About the event
Join us for a guided 1.2-mile woodland walk led by a retired DNR forester as we explore a property that has been shaped over decades of active forest management by the landowner into a diverse and varied woodland.
As we move through the forest, we’ll experience how it shifts from one type of habitat to another, supporting a wide range of wildlife, including deer, grouse, songbirds, and wood ducks. Some areas are more open and regenerating, while others are more mature and structured, creating a rich mix of habitats across the property.
We’ll also take time to see how long-term decisions such as thinning trees and encouraging oak growth have shaped both the look and function of the forest. These choices are still visible today and help tell the story of how the woods have developed over time.
